LESSON OUTLINES

Levels: Beginner to Upper-Intermediate

Sources: textbooks, news, magazines, blogs, ESL websites, newsletters

Lesson Types:

Reading, Speaking, Writing, Grammar, Functions (in all lessons I review grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and focus on the language fluency)

Lesson outline:

I usually start with setting up a context for the lesson. Then I do some vocabulary pre-teach or a short diagnostic test to identify student's blocking needs. After the blocking issues are cleared, I provide a model text to work on. With the text, I want to develop

student's ability to use the target language in ontrolled practice

first. After that, I give some freer practice as well, to consolidate and extend the target language use, and to advance student's English fluency. I tend to give a little homework, too (usually some writing).
